Job summary

PLS Group UK seeks a Tree Climber and Groundsman to join our Colburn, WI crew and support utility and commercial projects on-site. You will climb trees, perform pruning and removal, and assist with rigging, brush handling, and site clean-up as part of a safety-first team.

Typical duties include equipment checks, following plans, and communicating with the crew to ensure efficient, safe completion of tasks in varying weather conditions. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Safe climbing techniques, pruning and dismantling using modern arboricultural methods.
• Grounds work skills: safe chainsaw operation, brush handling, rigging, basic equipment maintenance.
• Strong safety practices: PPE use, working at height, roadside safety procedures.
• Good physical fitness to work outdoors in varying weather and perform manual tasks.
• Effective communication and teamwork, following instructions and coordinating with crew.
• Valid driver’s license; towing experience is beneficial.
• Arboricultural training or certifications (chainsaw tickets, climbing/aerial rescue) are highly beneficial.
• Previous arboriculture or utility vegetation experience is advantageous; motivated candidates welcome.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Tree Climber and Groundsman role based in Colburn, WI. The role involves climbing and working in trees to perform pruning, removal, and maintenance in accordance with industry standards and safety guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting up work sites, operating chainsaws, chippers, and other arboricultural equipment, and assisting with ground operations such as rigging, brush handling, and site clean-up. The Tree Climber and Groundsman will support utility and commercial projects, follow work plans, and communicate effectively with the crew to ensure safe, efficient completion of tasks. The role also includes routine equipment inspections, adherence to health and safety procedures, and participation in training to maintain and improve technical skills.

• Candidates should possess practical tree work skills, including safe climbing techniques, tree pruning, and dismantling using modern arboricultural methods.
• Candidates should possess strong grounds work skills, such as safe chainsaw operation, brush handling, rigging assistance, and basic equipment maintenance.
• Candidates should possess a solid understanding of safety practices, including use of PPE, awareness of work-at-height regulations, and adherence to utility and roadside safety procedures.
• Candidates should possess good physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform manual handling tasks.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions, coordinate with crew members, and interact professionally with clients when required.
• Candidates should possess a valid driver's license; experience driving trucks or towing trailers is beneficial.
• Relevant arboricultural training or certifications (e.g., chainsaw tickets, climbing and aerial rescue qualifications) are highly beneficial.
• Previous experience in arboriculture, utility vegetation management, or related land-based work is an advantage but motivated candidates with strong work ethic will be considered.
