Arborist Now is seeking an experienced Tree Climber in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role focuses on climbing operations and aerial tree work, including pruning, removals, cabling, and bracing to deliver high-quality tree care services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional tree climbing experience.
• Working knowledge of pruning techniques, rigging systems, and tree removal procedures.
• Ability to safely operate chainsaws and arboricultural equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using ropes, saddles, and approved climbing techniques.
• Perform pruning and tree removal operations according to ANSI A300 standards.
• Conduct crown cleaning, thinning, reduction, and structural pruning.
• Safely rig and lower tree sections and limbs during removals.
• Operate and maintain chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, and other tree care equipment.
• Assist with tree inspections and identify tree health concerns, hazards, and defects.
• Follow safety procedures and OSHA regulations; communicate with crew and customers.

Position Summary

The Tree Climber is responsible for performing climbing operations and aerial tree work, including pruning, removals, cabling, bracing, and other tree care services. The ideal candidate will have strong climbing skills, knowledge of proper arboricultural practices, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Climb trees using ropes, saddles, and approved climbing techniques.
• Perform pruning and tree removal operations according to ANSI A300 standards.
• Conduct crown cleaning, thinning, reduction, and structural pruning.
• Safely rig and lower tree sections and limbs during removals.
• Operate and maintain chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, and other tree care equipment.
• Assist with tree inspections and identify tree health concerns, hazards, and structural defects.
• Follow all company safety procedures, ANSI Z133 standards, and OSHA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with crew members, customers, and supervisors.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and job site hazard assessments.
• Maintain equipment and ensure vehicles and tools are kept in good working order.
• Assist with emergency storm response work when needed.
• Support ground crew operations as necessary.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 2 years of professional tree climbing experience.
• Working knowledge of pruning techniques, rigging systems, and tree removal procedures.
• Ability to safely operate chainsaws and arboricultural equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Preferred

• ISA Certified Arborist credential.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Experience operating aerial lifts, loaders, or other heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb and work at heights for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, and carrying.
• Ability to work on uneven terrain and in physically demanding environments.
• Comfortable using personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
