Job summary

VanCuren Services in Cleveland, OH is seeking a skilled Utility Line Clearance Climber to join our team. You will climb trees, prune and remove branches safely for major electric utility providers, using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems.

We value a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and a passion for the outdoors. CDL may be preferred depending on job requirements; training programs are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Driver’s license required; CDL may be preferred depending on job requirements.
• Electric utility tree trimming/climbing experience preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or related tree work.
• Preferred: ISA/TCIA certifications if required by state law.
• Love of the outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal for major electric utilities.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs and other structures.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment safely.

Position Overview

The Davey Tree Surgery Company, is pleased to offer a key opportunity in the field of Utility Line Clearance as a Climber.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license preferred and may be required, depending on job requirements
• Electric utility tree trimming/climbing experience preferred
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
• Love of the outdoors
