Job summary

City of Spokane is seeking temp-seasonal Tree Workers for the Urban Forestry division. The role involves planting, pruning, care, maintenance, and removal of city trees, plus inspections and inventory updates.

Work is performed under supervision with standard procedures across varied weather and terrain. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday with 6:30am–4:00pm hours; part-time and flexible hours may be accommodated.

Qualifications

• Two years of high school, trade school, or equivalent.
• AND one year of work experience in arboriculture, horticulture, urban forestry, or closely related field.
• One year of college education specific to arboriculture, horticulture, urban forestry, or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Tending, watering, mulching, planting, and transplanting trees and shrubs.
• Maintaining nursery operations.
• Pruning trees and shrubs.
• Removing trees and shrubs.
• Assisting in diagnosing diseases and pests in trees and shrubs.
• Assisting in site evaluations and tree inspections for permitted commercial work.
• Updating the tree inventory database for public and street trees.
• Providing general support to Urban Forestry staff, projects, and events.
