Job summary

Joshua Tree Experts in North Chicago, IL is seeking a Crew Leader to guide the Tree Crew in delivering residential and commercial tree care services. You will supervise pruning, removals, and risk assessments while ensuring safety and client satisfaction.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in tree care, strong climbing skills, and a proven safety mindset. CDL-B is preferred and ISA Arborist credentials are a plus. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible role with ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of tree care experience, including pruning, trimming, and removals.
• Excellent understanding of safe tree care practices.
• Ability to climb and navigate trees safely and efficiently.
• Extensive knowledge of tree species, diseases, and proper care techniques.
• Experience operating and maintaining tree care equipment.
• Strong problem solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions on the job.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and supervisors.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record (CDL-B preferred).
• ISA Certified Arborist preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Working with the Tree Crew, perform and delegate tree care operations to residential and commercial properties
• Operate Spyder lifts, bucket lifts, loaders, and various saws safely to prune, remove, or manage growth of trees and shrubs
• Monitor and maintain assigned equipment
• Communicate with clients while completing services to ensure satisfaction
• Conduct all aspects of arboriculture related to tree risk assessment, pruning, removing, and cabling and bracing
• Learn, understand, and implement company safety rules and regulations

What you need to be a Crew Leader:

• Proficient in operating and maintaining various tree care equipment, such as chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders
• Excellent problem solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions on the job
• Ability communicate effectively with team members, clients, and supervisors
• Valid Drivers License and clean driving record (CDL-B is preferred)
• ISA Certified Arborist is preferred, but not required
