Qualifications

  • Applicants must clearly address how they meet the required qualifications.
  • Ability to communicate, receive and assign instructions, direct work and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team on complex projects, with deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous physical duties.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate industry equipment for extended periods.
  • Knowledge and application of safety practices related to job duties and equipment.
  • Ability to perform Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Commitment to quality, customer service, personal development and safety.
  • Two years of tree pruning experience and ability to attain ISA Arborist certification within one year; pesticide license within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor health of the university's tree canopy and assess potential hazards.
  • Prune immature trees to guide growth and improve visibility and safety.
  • Maintain tree inventory and track removals/additions.
  • Plan and host Arbor Day events and arboriculture education opportunities.
  • Research, plan, and perform invasive species prevention, control, and remediation.
  • Support landscape resource management to enhance safe, healthy campus outdoor spaces.
