Job summary

Stella-Jones is seeking a plant operator to perform daily treating operations, inspect and manage materials, and support maintenance of safety and quality in the Jasper, TX facility.

The role requires ability to follow procedures, handle chemicals, and work as part of a team to meet production targets. Training on safety and regulatory compliance is provided within a strong benefits program.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: One year treating experience preferred; experience with chemicals is a plus.
• Licenses/Certifications: Pesticide applicators license preferred; Boiler Operating License preferred; PIE Certified.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control treating plant systems per procedures; manage preservative mix and transfer/storage.
• Perform duties of inspector, machine operator, and laborer as needed.
• Maintain target production levels during treating and ensure safety practices.
• Carry out security duties and participate in the safety program.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

This role performs operational work related to daily work instructions, inspection, grading, treatment and materials. Operates the treating plant safely and proficiently.

Principal Responsibilities

• Operate and control systems by prescribed operating procedures, including, but not limited to the following major systems:
  • Boiler and pressure vessels, vacuum and condensate recovery systems, preservative mix, transfer and storage systems, hazardous and solid waste processing and storage, charge transfer tables and emergency response equipment
• Perform all duties of inspector, machine operator (2) and laborer positions as required
• Operate all aspects of treating at or above target production levels
• Performs security duties
• Participates and contributes to company safety program
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Required plant safety orientation
• Pass the state pesticide certification exam
• Respiratory training and pass the medical exam and fit test (clean shaved face may be required)
• Solid knowledge of all federal and state regulations related to the treating department
• Solid knowledge of quality control standards related to the treating department
• Solid knowledge of customer specificationsComplete all required “Continuous Education Units” to keep pesticide certification
• Solid knowledge on hazardous waste regulations
• Performs other related duties as assigned
