Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of tennis teaching experience (juniors preferred).
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience teaching tennis to children and teens of varying skill levels.
  • Experience organizing junior programs, clinics, or camps preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality tennis instruction (private lessons, group lessons, clinics) for juniors of all ages and skill levels.
  • Design and implement comprehensive junior tennis programs, including beginner, intermediate, advanced, and competitive pathways.
  • Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, safety, and enjoyment of the game.
  • Organize and run junior clinics, camps, leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Assist with player development for junior competitive play, including USTA leagues and tournaments as applicable.
  • Supervise junior play and ensure proper scheduling, attendance tracking, and fee processing.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with parents regarding progress, placement, scheduling, and expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality tennis instruction (private lessons, group lessons, clinics) for juniors of all ages and skill levels.
  • Design and implement comprehensive junior tennis programs, including beginner, intermediate, advanced, and competitive pathways.
  • Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, safety, and enjoyment of the game.
  • Organize and run junior clinics, camps, leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Assist with player development for junior competitive play, including USTA leagues and tournaments as applicable.
  • Supervise junior play and ensure proper scheduling, attendance tracking, and fee processing.
  • Ensure students understand tennis rules, scoring, etiquette, and on-court safety.
  • Enforce all Tyler Racquet Club rules and policies governing court use, equipment, and conduct.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with parents regarding progress, placement, scheduling, and expectations.
  • Perform basic court maintenance and assist with racquet stringing as needed.
  • Promote and wear Tyler Racquet Club–branded apparel and support pro shop offerings.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member and guest questions, comments, and concerns.
  • Demonstrate a positive, service-oriented attitude with members, guests, and team members.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for all junior participants.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support club operations.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of tennis teaching experience (juniors preferred).
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience teaching tennis to children and teens of varying skill levels.
  • Experience organizing junior programs, clinics, or camps preferred.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Skill level equivalent to a minimum 4.0 USTA rating.
  • Strong knowledge of tennis fundamentals, rules, scoring, and teaching methodologies.
  • Effective and engaging teaching styles suited for junior development.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Friendly, positive, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with junior players, parents, members, and staff.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer and email proficiency.
  • Ability to read and speak English to effectively communicate with members and staff.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, and demonstrate tennis skills.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work actively on court for extended periods.
Work Environment
  • Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels typical of an active tennis facility.
