The Resource Center, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Residence Manager to support the Residence Manager in operating a residence for individuals with disabilities in New York.
You will supervise direct care staff, help implement individualized plans, and ensure timely recordkeeping and data collection. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED with experience in human services; an associate degree or 60 college credits is preferred.
Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor
To assist the Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor in the effective operation of the residence. In conjunction with and/or in the absence of the Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor, provides supervision to direct support staff and ensures the implementation of individualized programming for each person who resides at the residence.
Working knowledge of educational/training techniques for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities; demonstrated competency in working with people with disabilities. The ability to understand and follow written plans and track, collect and interpret data, including acceptable writing skills for record documentation; the ability to oversee delivery of services. The ability to organize time well and manage multiple responsibilities effectively and in a timely fashion. Reliability, adaptability, flexibility and a willingness and availability to work additional, non-scheduled hours in order to ensure coverage as needed or assigned. Ability to successfully complete and maintain required in-service training, including NYS Medication Administration Certification. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job, including the ability to lift people in order to assist in transferring and positioning and the ability to perform Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) maneuvers and maintain SCIP certification is essential.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record according to guidelines established by The Resource Center’s insurance carrier or equivalent accommodations required.
High school diploma or GED plus two (2) years’ work experience with favorable work history; OR Associates degree or 60 credit hours of college course work, preferably in a human service-related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to indicate ability to do the job.
Management/supervisory/administrative experience strongly preferred but not required; Experience working with people with disabilities strongly preferred.
Assistant Residence Manager 1 – Applies to all IRA locations with six (6) beds or less.
High school diploma or GED plus two (2) years’ work experience with favorable work history; OR Associates degree or 60 credit hours of college course work, preferably in a human service-related field; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to indicate ability to do the job.
Management/supervisory/administrative experience strongly preferred but not required; Experience working with people with disabilities strongly preferred.
Assistant Residence Manager 2 – Applies to all IRA locations with seven (7) – nine (9) beds.
High school diploma or GED plus four (4) years’ work experience with favorable work history; OR Associates degree or 60 credit hours of college course work, preferably in a human service-related field plus two (2) years’ work experience with favorable work history; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to indicate ability to do the job.
Minimum of one (1) year of which was in a management/supervisory/administrative capacity; Experience working with people with disabilities strongly preferred.
Participation in agency Leadership Career Path maybe substituted for one (1) year of management/supervisory experience.
Assistant Residence Manager 3 – Applies to all IRA locations with ten (10) or more beds and all ICF locations of, Celoron A, Celoron B, Chandler, and Foote Avenue A1, A2, B3, B4, C5, C6.
All Assistant Residence Managers are required to obtain the Front-Line Supervisor NADSP Certification within the first year as an Assistant Residence Manager.
Demonstrates understanding and success in core competencies as outlined by the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS), which includes competency in the areas of communication, person-centered practices, evaluation and observation, crisis prevention and intervention, safety, professionalism and ethics, empowerment and advocacy, health and wellness, community living skills and supports, community inclusion and networking, cultural competency, and education, training, and self-development.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

In conjunction with the Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor, assumes responsibility for petty cash expenditures and individuals’ personal funds expenditures and ensures the security of all funds, property and supplies located at the residence. In conjunction with the Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor, completes staff assignment sheets and ensures adequate staffing is in place to meet the needs of the site. Ensures that all duties carried out are consistent with and in compliance with regulatory requirements and TRC policy and procedure. Contributes to the development of comprehensive service planning activities for each person, by observing how the person may best learn new skills and monitoring the progression/regression of service plan goals. Attends annual, semi-annual review and/or other team meetings as necessary and advises team members of significant problems or progress regarding person’s supported treatment planning and implementation, as needed or assigned. In collaboration with the Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor, monitors and ensures the completion of all required documentation and records. Collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team in the development, monitoring, and updates of peoples’ plans. In conjunction with the Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor, maintains and promotes open communication with peoples’ families and correspondents, to ensure ongoing support. Conducts fire drills and submits documentation as required. As needed or as assigned by the Residence Manager/Residential Site Supervisor, participates in conducting pre-placement visits for potential new individuals to the home. Completes all trainings as assigned, including ‘train the trainer’ to support Adult Learners.
