Job summary

Fabcon Precast in Lansing, MI seeks a general construction laborer to join a welding crew responsible for erecting precast concrete panels. You will perform basic labor tasks, follow foreperson directions, and contribute to efficient, safe operations.

Candidates should have welding experience, ability to follow instructions, work at heights, travel as needed, and possess a valid driver's license. A high school diploma is preferred; union membership may be required.

Qualifications

• Welding experience is required or preferred.
• Ability to follow simple and complex verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work with others in a team setting and maintain professional conduct.
• Ability to work from heights (ladders, aerial work platforms).
• Must be able to travel extensively (50% or more) and work overtime as needed.

Job description

To provide general construction labor tasks, in an efficient and safe manner, as part of a welding crew to erect precast concrete panels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Completes general construction labor tasks necessary to weld precast concrete panels
• Takes work direction from detail or erection crew foreperson
• May perform work of a miscellaneous nature as directed by foreperson
• Uses materials/supplies in an efficient manner
• Handles equipment in a responsible manner
• Follows established safety procedures and policies

• Ability to carry out simple and complex verbal instructions
• Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times
• Ability to work from heights, including but not limited to ladders and aerial work platforms
• Ability to obtain membership to a local union
• General knowledge of construction practices
• Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
• Ability to travel extensively (50% of the time or more, including overnights) and work overtime as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction or manual labor experience
• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer.

Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
