Job summary

Fabcon Precast is seeking a construction laborer to support welding on precast concrete panels and to work as part of a welding crew. The role requires following directions from a foreperson and performing various tasks as assigned while maintaining safety and efficiency on site.

You will need welding experience, the ability to work with others, and a valid driver’s license. Expect travel up to half the time and potential overnight stays, with flexibility for differing schedules as needed.

Qualifications

• Welding experience is required.
• Ability to follow simple and complex verbal instructions; work well with others.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% or more, including overnight trips.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• General knowledge of construction practices.
• Ability to obtain membership to a local union.

Job description

To provide general construction labor tasks, in an efficient and safe manner, as part of a welding crew to erect precast concrete panels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Completes general construction labor tasks necessary to weld precast concrete panels
• Takes work direction from detail or erection crew foreperson
• May perform work of a miscellaneous nature as directed by foreperson
• Uses materials/supplies in an efficient manner
• Handles equipment in a responsible manner
• Follows established safety procedures and policies

• Ability to carry out simple and complex verbal instructions
• Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times
• Ability to work from heights, including but not limited to ladders and aerial work platforms
• Ability to obtain membership to a local union
• General knowledge of construction practices
• Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
• Ability to travel extensively, up to 50% or more, including occasional overnight travel, and to work hours outside the standard schedule as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction or manual labor experience
• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer.

Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
