Job summary

Rockwell Sterling is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee field operations on projects across the United States. This full-time traveling role takes ownership of daily field activities to ensure safety, schedule, budget, and quality are met.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 5+ years of relevant construction experience.
  • Or a 4-year degree in Construction or related field in place of experience.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety the highest priority across all project activities.
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate field operations with project management and leadership teams.
  • Develop and manage site logistics, sequencing, and utilization plans.
  • Create and maintain short-term, 4-week look-ahead schedules while ensuring alignment with the overall project schedule.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, schedule, and resource utilization.
  • Coordinate subcontractor and client activities to maintain project progress.
  • Ensure accurate communication and documentation of field activities.
  • Drive projects toward successful completion while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee field operations on projects across the United States. This is a full-time traveling position, with assignments spanning a variety of markets and project types.

The Superintendent will take ownership of day-to-day field operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with schedule, budget, and quality expectations. This includes managing site logistics, manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage site logistics, sequencing, and utilization plans

Requirements
  • High school diploma with 5+ years of relevant construction experience, or
  • Four-year degree in Construction, Building Construction, or a related field in place of applicable experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and field operations
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel and temporarily relocate for the duration of projects
  • Ability to work effectively with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients
  • Strong leadership skills and a commitment to safety, quality, and accountability
