Summary

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific discipline area. The role focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service.

Key Eligibility & Travel Requirements
  • Visa sponsorship is not offered.
  • 100% travel required with regular rotations: work Monday‑Saturday for three weeks, then home for seven days.
  • Experience in fast‑paced environments.
  • Leadership required at all employee levels (craft workers to superintendents).
  • Mentoring and coaching of Foreman, General Foreman, and Superintendents.
  • Experience on large scale projects; crane and wind experience are a plus.
  • Has worked on self‑perform work; subcontractor‑only management is not desired.
  • Must meet the minimum experience requirements listed below.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement materials, equipment, and inspections to support the project schedule.
  • Review construction documents for completeness, constructability, and coordination with design engineers.
  • Develop and manage project schedule, site logistics plan, and use scheduling tools.
  • Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, and site meetings.
  • Hire, transfer, or dismiss team members as necessary.
  • Ensure proper task coding and track work progress; handle training and career development.
  • Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
  • Lead by example, provide coaching and feedback, and manage performance.
  • Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions and seek process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • OR 10 years trade experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to manage development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple project tasks.
  • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills; openness to diverse input and feedback.
  • Ready to travel up to 100%.

Minimum Qualifications by Level
  • Superintendent I: Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience; base pay range $111,400 – $167,100.
  • Superintendent II: Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience; base pay range $130,100 – $195,200 (higher ranges apply for Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Washington, D.C.).
