Job summary

Deacon Construction is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to join our Special Projects team. This field leadership role runs day-to-day job sites, manages subcontractors, and ensures projects in the Western U.S. stay on schedule and meet our high standards.

You will base your work in Sacramento, CA or Dallas, TX, travel extensively, and collaborate with the Project Manager to control cost, safety, and quality while building strong client relationships across the region.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of superintendent experience on commercial construction projects.
• Ability to manage construction in active or occupied environments.
• Strong scheduling, safety, and field coordination knowledge.
• Excellent communicator and client relationship builder.
• Willing to travel across the Western U.S.; home base in Sacramento or Dallas.
• OSHA 30 certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field operations on commercial projects across the Western U.S.
• Manage subcontractors, enforce schedules, and control quality and safety.
• Coordinate construction in active or occupied environments with minimal disruption.
• Collaborate with Project Manager on scheduling, look-ahead planning, RFIs, and cost control.
• Conduct daily walks, maintain logs, and lead weekly coordination meetings.
• Enforce safety program and maintain a clean, compliant jobsite.
• Oversee inspections, punch lists, and project closeout.
• Build strong relationships with clients, operators, architects, and trade partners.
