JE Dunn's Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects nationwide, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.

Role Summary

The Superintendent 2 will help plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity. This role is responsible for managing materials and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring documentation is complete, and meeting project goals for timely and profitable completion, all in support of JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

Superintendent Family - Core

  • Lead the company's safety culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment and mentoring others. Investigate safety incidents and retrain staff as needed.
  • Manage subcontractors and organize overall project workflow.
  • Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for small or large project segments.
  • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
  • Coordinate and manage the project site care, custody, and control.
  • Lead meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
  • Participate in progress and project OAC meetings.
  • Create and manage project schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Track and monitor project budgets and costs using project management systems.
  • Communicate key project information to stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, update drawings, logs, and inspection notebooks.
  • Approve and record unit costs, complete daily and tracking reports.
  • Evaluate progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Manage material and equipment needs.
  • Support procurement and approval processes.
  • Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment for self-perform operations.
  • Manage timecard approvals for accurate reporting.
  • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, standards, and QA/QC processes.
  • Support project closeouts and coordinate activities with stakeholders.
  • Understand project pursuit processes and participate in pre-planning and project review meetings.
  • Partner with field leadership on staffing and project changes.
  • Participate in negotiations and in the preparation of project reviews.
  • Identify and recruit top talent, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Additional Responsibilities

In addition, this position manages complex stand-alone projects from start to finish, actively managing risks, resources, and project deliverables, participating in project pursuits, and negotiating project changes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, project management, scheduling software, and construction technology.
  • Knowledge of construction management fundamentals, project processes, trades, and labor productivity.
  • Ability to build relationships, manage budgets, and maximize profitability.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of construction experience and 3 years in field supervision.
  • Experience with Lean principles and industrial construction projects is preferred.
Working Environment
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in extreme conditions, and travel as needed.
