Job Summary
The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field-related activities—including jobsite safety, cost control, quality assurance, and schedule adherence—across one or more healthcare projects. This role requires travel to various project sites. The Superintendent works closely with project management staff to ensure seamless coordination and execution at each location. All daily operations are conducted in alignment with the company’s vision, mission, and core values, with a focus on delivering high-performance athletic facilities that meet or exceed client expectations.

Minimum Requirements
- Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a superintendent in commercial construction; experience in healthcare construction is required.
- Experience with ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) and AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) compliance in healthcare construction settings is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage construction projects independently and on the road, with limited oversight.
- Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors, trades, and field teams in a dynamic, multi-site environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate crews and ensure accountability on the jobsite.
- Ability to read, interpret, and execute construction drawings, RFI’s, and specifications.
- Experience maintaining quality standards while meeting fast-paced construction timelines and deadlines.
- Must display strong leadership skills and personal accountability.
- Language Ability – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Math ability – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills – Basic computer skills are needed.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Job Responsibilities
- Contractual & Documentation Oversight- Understands and manages all contractual documents related to healthcare projects, including contracts, schedules, pay applications, RFIs, submittals, and document control. Utilizes company policies, procedures, and best practices, including the Master Forms Library.
- Proactive Problem Solving & Leadership- Anticipates and mitigates potential project issues through a proactive approach. Continuously develops leadership and mentoring skills, particularly with rotating or remote crews.
- Site Logistics & Execution Planning- Creates, implements, and monitors site logistics and management plans customized to each healthcare build. Maintains detailed field notes, photographic documentation, and accurate daily logs, including weather and delays.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance- Exercises full responsibility for jobsite safety and quality control. Ensures OSHA and company safety standards are met, including site separation and visitor protocols. Maintains a jobsite quality plan and enforces standards through all project phases.
- Inventory & Punch List Management- Maintains tool and equipment inventory across all sites. Ensures timely creation, distribution, and completion of punch lists, even during site turnovers while traveling.
- Client Communication & Satisfaction- Ensures client expectations are met or exceeded throughout the construction process. Communicates issues, safety concerns, and project updates promptly to the team.
- Ongoing Training & Support Duties- Participates in ongoing training, particularly related to mobile and remote project delivery. Assists with reviewing shop drawings and submittals when necessary and performs additional duties as assigned by leadership.
- Cost Control & Coding- Accurately codes timesheets, material invoices, and Comdata transactions for cost tracking. Reviews job costs with management and provides feedback based on field conditions.
- Subcontractor & Material Management- Oversees subcontractor performance and enforces compliance, initiating corrective actions when necessary. Coordinates material procurement and delivery to align with schedules, especially in remote locations.
- Scheduling & Look-Ahead Planning- Develops and manages construction schedules. Creates look-ahead schedules to support field execution and address traveling site needs. Takes corrective action as required.
- Preconstruction & Business Development Support- Assists with business development and preconstruction tasks, including development of bid scopes tailored to athletic and recreational facilities.
- Team & Field Coordination- Leads and coordinates project teams across multiple remote/traveling job sites. Plans and sequences daily and weekly work activities, ensuring efficient trade interaction and field execution. Conducts daily huddles and weekly progress meetings with trades at all sites.
