Job summary

gpac is seeking a Traveling Construction Superintendent to oversee ground-up and renovation projects across North Carolina and the surrounding Southeast. The role requires hands-on leadership, independent site management, and ability to coordinate multiple trades while maintaining safety and quality.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in commercial construction, experience with schedules, reading plans, and travel between sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent in commercial construction.
• Experience overseeing ground-up construction and renovations.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, and project schedules.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel across North Carolina and the surrounding region.
• Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management tools preferred.
• OSHA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations for ground-up commercial construction and renovation projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and onsite personnel to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating trades and deliveries to keep projects on track.
• Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections and address construction issues as they arise.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track jobsite progress, maintain daily reports, and communicate updates to project management.
• Manage site logistics, materials, equipment, and manpower to support project milestones.
• Identify potential delays or challenges and implement solutions to minimize disruptions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
• Travel as needed throughout North Carolina and surrounding states to oversee assigned projects.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee ground-up construction and renovation projects throughout North Carolina and the surrounding region. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on construction professional who can independently manage jobsites, coordinate subcontractors, maintain project schedules, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.

The ideal candidate has experience managing commercial construction projects from start to finish and is comfortable traveling between job sites. Experience with Walmart construction, renovations, or store remodels is a major plus!

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage projects independently while working collaboratively with project management teams.
• Willingness to travel throughout North Carolina and the surrounding region.
• Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office, or similar construction management tools is preferred.
• OSHA certification is preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Walmart construction, store remodels, renovations, or new store construction is a significant plus.
• Experience with shopping center, big‑box retail, grocery, QSR, or other multi‑site commercial construction projects is highly desirable.
