Job summary

JGM is seeking experienced Traveling Journeyman Welders to join our field construction teams on projects across the country. This 100% traveling, hands-on role involves welding, fit-up, and ironwork on active industrial and commercial sites, working with ironworkers, foremen, and field leadership to meet project specs.

Candidates must have at least 5 years of structural steel welding, be able to pass D1.1/D1.8 and weld tests, read drawings, and travel full-time.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of structural steel welding experience, preferably in field construction or steel erection.
• Demonstrated ability to produce quality structural welds in multiple positions.
• Experience with SMAW and/or FCAW welding processes.
• AWS D1.1 structural welding experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, and connection details.
• Ability and willingness to pass JGM and/or project-specific weld tests prior to beginning work.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural steel welding on beams, columns, connections, reinforcement, and other structural members per project specs.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as required.
• Read and interpret drawings, erection drawings, weld symbols, and connection details.
• Set up and operate welding equipment with correct electrodes, wire, amperage, and settings.
• Inspect welds for quality and defects prior to QC inspection and perform weld repairs as needed.
• Travel between JGM project sites as assignments and project schedules require.
