Job description

Job Overview:

Primoris Renewable Energy is seeking a full-time Traveling Solar Technician III. This position requires overnight travel on a frequent basis depending on company needs. The Traveling Solar Technician must have the ability to work safely at high quality with electrical & mechanical components, issues and concerns.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  1. Perform a full range of diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and oversight of issues that may arise at a solar farm across the US.
  2. Ability to diagnose a full range of solar service issues.
  3. Provide outstanding customer experience. The Solar Technician will be customer facing and must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
  4. Ability to travel using own vehicle or in company owned vehicle.
  5. Participate in staff meetings and assist with broader company initiatives.
  6. Provide daily reports.
  7. Effectively use hand and power tools.
  8. Effectively use a laptop and a variety of programs/applications.
  9. Learn and understand basic low voltage electrical systems.
  10. Operate machinery/equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators.
  11. Troubleshoot technical issues.
  12. Clean, maintain, and inventory company owned tools/equipment.
  13. Act professionally in remote areas, on active construction sites, or in the office.
  14. Think creatively and encourage open-mindedness.
  15. Continually drive self-improvement and motivate excellence in coworkers.
  16. Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures.
  17. Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 2+ years working in the renewable energy industry or relevant experience from another industry.
  2. Great safety track record.
  3. Knowledge of all major solar and energy storage products.
  4. Training on top tier inverters a plus.
  5. Must be highly organized and punctual.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Must have a valid driver's license and pass background check and physical.
  8. Must have the ability to work through issues and troubleshoot safely.
  9. Accommodate frequent travel.
  10. Work as a member of a small team, as well as independently in the field.
  11. Must be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to: standing, stooping, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time. Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
  12. Lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
  13. Lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday.
  14. Sustain prolonged exposure to extreme weather and environmental conditions.
