Job Overview:

Primoris Renewable Energy is seeking a full-time Traveling Solar Technician II. This position requires overnight travel on a frequent basis depending on company needs. The Traveling Solar Technician must have the ability to work safely at high quality with electrical & mechanical components, issues and concerns.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Perform a full range of diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and oversight of issues that may arise at a solar farm across the US.
  • Diagnose a full range of solar service issues.
  • Provide outstanding customer experience while maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
  • Travel using own vehicle or in company-owned vehicle.
  • Participate in staff meetings and assist with broader company initiatives.
  • Provide daily reports.
  • Effectively use hand and power tools.
  • Effectively use a laptop and a variety of programs/applications.
  • Learn and understand basic low voltage electrical systems.
  • Operate machinery/equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Clean, maintain, and inventory company-owned tools/equipment.
  • Act professionally in remote areas, on active construction sites, or in the office.
  • Think creatively and encourage open-mindedness.
  • Continually drive self-improvement and motivate excellence in coworkers.
  • Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years working in the renewable energy industry or relevant experience from another industry.
  • Great safety track record.
  • Knowledge of all major solar and energy storage products.
  • Training on top tier inverters a plus.
  • Highly organized and punctual.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass background check and physical.
  • Ability to work through issues and troubleshoot safely.
  • Accommodate frequent travel.
  • Work as a member of a small team, as well as independently in the field.
  • Ability to work in various positions, including standing, stooping, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday.
  • Sustain prolonged exposure to extreme weather and environmental conditions.
