Role Summary
The Senior Superintendent will plan, manage, and execute all aspects of significantly complex or multiple projects. Responsibilities include managing the team, planning construction sequencing, and ensuring project goals are met for timely and profitable completion, aligned with JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
- Lead safety culture, demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment, investigate incidents, and retrain staff as needed.
- Manage subcontractors, organize overall job workflow.
- Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for small or large projects.
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Coordinate project site care, custody, and control.
- Lead meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
- Participate in progress and project OAC meetings.
- Manage project schedule and monitor budget and costs.
- Communicate key project information to stakeholders.
- Maintain project documentation and logs.
- Approve and record unit costs, complete reports.
- Evaluate progress and adjust plans accordingly.
- Manage material and equipment needs.
- Support procurement processes.
- Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment.
- Manage timecard approvals for accurate reporting.
- Ensure quality compliance through specifications and QA/QC processes.
- Support project closeouts and coordinate activities with stakeholders.
- Participate in project pursuit, team collaboration, and negotiations.
- Recruit top talent and promote diversity and inclusion.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
- Manage multiple projects from planning to completion.
- Lead project teams with multiple superintendents.
- Influence delivery results, support company strategies, and engage in external relationships.
- Participate in business development and marketing activities.
- Manage project risks, deliverables, and internal resources.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Perform work accurately, timely, with strong communication skills.
- Conduct effective presentations.
- Proficiency in MS Office, project management, and scheduling software.
- Apply construction management fundamentals, lean principles, and knowledge of trades.
- Manage budgets, build relationships, and understand project impacts.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years construction experience.
- 8+ years field supervision experience.
- Experience with Lean principles preferred.
Working Environment
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Travel and relocation may be required.
- Exposure to extreme conditions, non-traditional hours.
