Role Summary

The Senior Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis, all aligned with JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities

1. Core Safety Specialist Tasks:

• Coordinate and implement safety programs on construction sites.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with laws and policies.
• Identify, document, and recommend abatement of hazards, utilizing safety management systems.
• Oversee safety orientations, drug and alcohol policies, and monitor safety programs of contractors.
• Participate in project meetings to address safety matters.
• Assist in investigating accidents and coordinate with injured employees for treatment and return-to-work processes.
• Monitor safety incentive programs.

1. Additional Responsibilities for Senior Safety Specialist:

• Handle more complex safety hazards and provide advanced solutions.
• Utilize higher-level knowledge of equipment, laws, and safety recommendations.
• Lead safety meetings and contribute to trend analysis to identify problem areas.
• Provide guidance and training on safety topics.
• Support safety leadership during audits and oversee complex projects.
• Develop and implement training strategies, including digital learning and on-the-job training.
• Monitor safety metrics and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety and health-related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5+ years construction safety experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety software.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and hazard recognition.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
