Role Summary

This is a 100% Full-Time Traveling role. While this position is based in our Atlanta office, it supports our Nationwide Aviation Vertical footprint. Residency in Atlanta is not required.

The Senior Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis, all aligned with JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

SAFETY SPECIALIST FAMILY - CORE

• Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Perform safety audits, identify hazards, document findings, and recommend abatement measures using internal safety management systems.
• Conduct project-specific new hire orientations and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitor the implementation of safety programs by prime contractors and subcontractors.
• Participate in project meetings to address safety issues.
• Support field leadership in safety program activities and chair safety committees.
• Assist in investigating accidents and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate with medical providers for injured employees' treatment and return to work.
• Monitor site safety incentive programs.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

SENIOR SAFETY SPECIALIST

• Handle more complex safety hazards related to safety, health, and hazardous materials.
• Provide advanced safety recommendations based on knowledge of equipment, laws, and work processes.
• Engage actively in safety meetings and communication.
• Use safety management systems to analyze trends and recommend solutions.
• Provide training and guidance on safety topics.
• Assist with safety audits and oversee complex projects.
• Manage controlled insurance program projects.
• Develop and implement training strategies, including digital and on-the-job training.
• Monitor safety metrics and identify training needs.
• Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions, maintaining records.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Perform work accurately, timely, and completely.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety software.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in safety or related field preferred.
• Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience required.

Working Environment
