Job description

The Weitz Company is seeking a Traveling Safety Manager to be located on a data center project in Ashburn, VA.

The Safety Manager provides safety leadership and oversight for an assigned region. Responsibilities include implementing safety standards, providing training, supporting safety planning, and conducting safety audits and investigations. The Safety Manager reports to the Regional Safety Manager or Safety Director and may manage other safety personnel.

What You'll Do:

• Keep the business informed of safety regulatory changes and facilitate their implementation.
• Provide guidance on safety programs, work practices, company policies, and workers' compensation law.
• Support site inspections by third-party and OSHA inspectors.
• Conduct safety inspections and verify corrective actions.
• Empower employees to stop work if unsafe conditions are observed.
• Coordinate and promote a positive safety culture through safety committees and communication.
• Lead incident investigations and safety training efforts.
• Ensure compliance through project inspections and assessments.
• Participate in safety planning and represent the company in safety hearings.
• Support policies on vehicle safety and substance abuse.
• Perform additional safety-related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

• At least four years of construction safety experience, preferably in data center projects.
• Strong management, organizational, and communication skills, with leadership ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; training on company software will be provided.
