You’ll work across in-building and outdoor DAS networks while collaborating with wireless service provider RF teams and implementation stakeholders. The role offers the opportunity to apply deep technical knowledge across multiple wireless protocols, equipment platforms, predictive modelling, and network-performance analysis.

Overview

Our customer is an RF Integration Technician who is responsible for commissioning and optimizing DAS networks while providing oversight for assigned projects. The role interfaces with wireless service provider RF teams and project and implementation teams to support successful system delivery.

Responsibilities include documenting commissioning and optimization procedures, measurements, settings, and final network configurations, as well as ensuring Acceptance Test Plan procedures are completed, approved, and properly filed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform equipment engineering for DAS design sizing, equipment specifications, and network parameters, including RF power, electrical power requirements, filters, antennas, space requirements, and ancillary materials supporting multi-tenant DAS environments.
  • Provide oversight for assigned DAS projects, including status updates and technical guidance to DAS teams and customer counterparts.
  • Support both in-building and outdoor DAS network projects.
  • Use RF test equipment, including transmitters, receivers, spectrum analyzers, and optical meters, to support DAS commissioning and optimization.
  • Provide technical expertise to help field maintenance personnel restore and reconfigure DAS host, remote and fiber components to normal operation.
  • Interpret and summarize DAS performance metrics, including fiber delay, distance limitations, noise floor, simulcast performance, power budgets and antenna specifications.
  • Document optimization and commissioning procedures, measurements, settings, and final network configurations.
  • Coordinate completion, approval and filing of Acceptance Test Plan procedures with relevant RF stakeholders.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience as an RF engineer with a wireless service provider or consulting firm.

  • Working knowledge of major wireless protocols, including CDMA, EVDO, LTE, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA and iDEN.
  • Experience with multiple equipment platforms such as Andrew, ADC, PWAV, Mobile Access and TEKO.
  • Understanding of RF link-budget requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate CW drive testing and integrate results into predictive modelling tools.
  • Ability to perform capacity modelling for RF protocols.
  • Ability to post-process drive-test data and develop optimization recommendations.
  • Ability to perform CW data collection and evaluate correlations with predictive models.
  • Understanding capacity and coverage limitations from RF, switch, and RF hardware perspectives.
