Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Data Center Project Engineer for a major Columbus, OH data center project, with a base in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on supporting onsite construction engineering activities, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring alignment with project schedules and quality standards.

You will assist with planning, design interpretation, RFIs/submittals, and project documentation, while collaborating with project teams to resolve technical issues and maintain contract

Qualifications

• 3+ years of working project engineer experience.
• Experience with general contractors, subcontractors, or construction contractors.
• Experience supporting large industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center projects.
• Ability to manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, minutes, and project documentation.
• Understanding of drawings, specifications, scheduling, procurement, and project controls.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel up to 70%.

Job Description

The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting onsite construction engineering activities for a significant data center project in Columbus, Ohio. This position involves assisting with construction planning, design interpretation, subcontractor coordination, project documentation, and resolving technical or constructability issues. The engineer will collaborate closely with project management, field leadership, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other onsite departments to ensure engineering activities align with the project schedule, quality expectations, and contract requirements.

What You Need:

• 3+ years of working project engineer experience.

• Experience working for a general contractor, subcontractor, or construction contractor.

• Experience supporting large industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.

• Ability to manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, meeting minutes, and project documentation.

• Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, scheduling, procurement, and project controls.

• Valid drivers license.

• Willingness to travel up to 70%.

Work Environment

This is a fast-paced, onsite construction environment supporting a large data center project located in Columbus, Ohio. The current schedule consists of five 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, plus an 8-hour shift on Saturday. Home rotation is discussed individually with each candidate. TN visa candidates can be accommodated.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
