Work Environment

This role is based on site at a greenfield power generation project in Bowling Green, Ohio, designed to provide power to data centers. The facility includes aero-turbines, generators, battery energy storage systems (BESS), extensive civil and underground work, and approximately 30 miles of pipeline on and around a 20-acre lot. The project is executed under an EPC structure, with sister companies and partner firms performing significant portions of the design and construction work. Electrical and mechanical scopes represent major portions of the project, and power-focused teams support the electrical work. You will work in and around job trailers and active construction areas, collaborating with 23 Project Engineers per site, as well as Construction Management, Quality, and Safety staff who are routinely on site. The Project Manager is office-based in Wisconsin and conducts periodic site visits. Most projects operate on a schedule of six days per week, ten hours per day (6x10s), with tight windows and high man-hour demands. Project durations typically range from 612 months, with this power plant project expected to run 1.5+ years before transitioning to another assignment, often in Wisconsin or the broader Midwest. Team members frequently travel and remain on site for extended periods, with mileage or flights home provided within reason and targeted trips home approximately once a month or every other month, depending on project phase. The organization offers a strong, hands-on training program where new engineers and Assistant Project Managers are paired with Project Managers and teams, starting with specific portions of a job or material management before taking on entire projects. The culture emphasizes strong retention, close-knit field teams, and a family-like atmosphere among field managers. Benefits typically include a truck allowance, cell phone allowance, provided laptop and equipment, paid time off and holidays, and eligibility for performance bonuses. Attire is standard construction-site appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment, suitable for outdoor work and varying weather conditions.
