Job summary

Lowcountry Oncology Associates is seeking a dedicated Mixing Technician to join its pharmacy team and support the delivery of high-quality cancer care at our West Ashley clinic and across four locations.

You will prepare sterile compounded medications, maintain strict USP standards, monitor inventory, and collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other departments to ensure safe, accurate dosing and timely patient care.

Qualifications

• Active SC Pharmacy Technician registration or SC State-Certified Pharmacy Technician registration.
• Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
• Minimum of two years experience required.
• Computer skills: EMR, pharmacy systems, Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of community pharmacy daily operations and outpatient infusion center workflows.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile compounded medications, including chemotherapy and biologic agents, per physician orders.
• Sorting, stocking, labeling medications and monitoring inventory.
• Perform all compounding per USP (sterile compounding) and USP (hazardous drug handling).
• Utilize aseptic techniques in appropriate environments (BSC).
• Accurately calculate drug dosages, volumes, concentrations and diluents based on protocols.
• Label and stage medications for double check verification and nursing administration.
• Respond to healthcare providers' questions and escalate issues as needed.
• Comply with USP 797 and 800 standards to maintain a safe pharmacy environment.
• Administrative tasks such as record-keeping as assigned by Pharmacist/Mixing Tech Supervisor.
• Assist with inventory management of chemotherapy agents, diluents, and supplies.
• Monitor expiration dates and storage conditions including refrigeration and hazardous storage.
