Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced leader to oversee preconstruction, engineering and field installation of MEP systems for critical facilities and data center projects in the Buffalo, NY area. The role reports to the Project Manager and involves travel and coordinating with design consultants, subcontractors and owner representatives.

You will guide a team of MEP professionals, ensure contract documents are followed, and manage procurement, schedule, budget and close-out

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in design, cost, sequence, logistics and field installations of Mechanical and Electrical systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present technical material.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Ability to identify design features that affect cost and suggest improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preconstruction, engineering and field installation of MEP systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Low Voltage, Fire Sprinkler).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors and owner representatives.
  • Lead, supervise and develop Turner MEP staff and provide input on performance appraisals.
  • Oversee daily activities of Engineer-MEP and Superintendent-MEP and subordinates.
  • Manage procurement, budgets, quality, safety, scheduling, installation, commissioning and close-out of MEP works.

General Information

Division: Critical Facilities-Data Centers. Project Location(s): Buffalo, NY 14201 USA. Travel Involved: 70-80%. Job Type: Regular. Job Classification: Experienced. Job Family: Construction. Compensation: Salaried Exempt.

Position Overview

Oversee and direct preconstruction, engineering and field installation of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems. Reports to Project Manager, Project Executive.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Specifically relating to the mechanical and electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Low Voltage, Fire Sprinkler).

  • Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner's representatives to ensure alignment with client goals and expectations from initiation to completion of the project.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the contract documents (including Turner's contract, plans, specifications and applicable codes).
  • Lead, supervise and develop Turner MEP staff, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
  • Oversee daily activities of Engineer-MEP, Superintendent-MEP, and subordinates.
  • Manage MEP procurement, project budgets, quality, safety, engineering, coordination, scheduling, installation, commissioning, and close-out processes.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and minimum 10 years’ experience with progressively more responsible exposure to design, cost, sequence, logistics and field installations of Mechanical and Electrical systems or equivalent combination of training and experience. Able to identify design features that command cost premiums and recommend alternatives that deliver comparable or improved function. Demonstrated ability to present technical material. LEED accreditation preferred. Very strong oral and written communication skills required. Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of programs. Knowledge of project management and scheduling software desirable. Ability to implement leading edge technologies to benefit the project. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Benefits

Salary range: $145,000.00 - $217,000.00 annualized.
