Job summary

Wachter, Inc. is seeking a Traveling Technician to support large distribution centers nationwide. Expect 50–60 hour weeks, extensive travel, and leadership responsibilities coordinating daily tasks with the Foreman while operating 40ft+ lifts.

You will install and test Cat6 and fiber cabling, handle paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling, and read prints with minimal supervision. Strong safety practices and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of low-voltage or data cabling experience.
• Strong Cat6 and fiber termination and testing skills.
• Experience with paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Ability to read prints and work with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working at height and in large warehouse environments.
• Ability to work independently or support small crews.
• Proficient with smartphones, email, and basic spreadsheets.
• Basic telecommunications tools, PPE, and reliable transportation.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work 50–60 hour weeks.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber (single-mode and multi-mode) cabling.
• Perform paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Lead and support small crews of 2–4 technicians as a working lead when assigned.
• Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, and cable management.
• Install cable pathways including J-hooks, ladder rack, innerduct, and tray.
• Operate boom and scissor lifts (40+ ft work).
• Troubleshoot cabling and system issues.
• Ensure cables are neatly dressed, labeled, and installed per standards.
• Provide daily progress updates to the Lead or Foreman.
• Follow all safety, quality, and site requirements.

Traveling Technician (50–60 Hours/Week)

Have you lead other Technicians before? 2+years experience?
