Jobot is hiring a Traveling Journeyman Electrician for projects across Illinois and beyond. The role focuses on installing solar electrical systems, wiring, and documentation, with a fully mobile schedule and 100% travel requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid Journeyman Electrician license or 8,000+ electrical hours verified by prior employers.
• 5+ years of solar or electrical construction experience.
• Familiarity with PV systems and DC/AC configurations.
• Ability to travel 100% across the Midwest and beyond with overnight stays.
• US work authorization; sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Install photovoltaic (solar) electrical systems per drawings and specs.
• Perform AC and DC terminations and wire management.
• Interpret construction documents, wire schedules, and BOMs.
• Apply current electrical codes and best practices on the job.
• Complete material takeoffs and support procurement.
• Mentor apprentices and crew members in the field.
• Maintain project documentation and field records.
• Coordinate with foremen and project managers to meet safety and production goals.
• Communicate effectively with crew, customers, and leadership.

$50 - $60 per hour | Springfield, IL | On-site | Permanent

What You'll Do

What You Bring

• Valid Journeyman Electrician license OR 8,000+ electrical working hours, verifiable with prior employers
• 5+ years of experience in solar or electrical construction
• Familiarity with PV systems and DC/AC configurations
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and specifications
• Ability to travel 100% across the Midwest and beyond, with overnight stays required
• Reliable personal transportation to and from job sites
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving history
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work on your feet for long periods
• US work authorization; sponsorship is not available
