Job Description

We are seeking experienced Traveling Journeyman Construction Technicians to support utility and EPC projects across the United States. This position is responsible for the construction, installation, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical substations, working in energized utility environments alongside superintendents, foremen, and other craft personnel to keep projects on schedule. Day‑to‑day work spans everything from equipment installation and cable terminations to reading complex electrical drawings and supporting commissioning and closeout activities. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, comfortable with extended travel, and passionate about high-voltage utility construction work.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and maintain substation equipment including circuit breakers, disconnect switches, transformers, bus systems, and associated electrical components.
• Install grounding systems, conduit, cable tray, underground duct banks, and control wiring.
• Pull, terminate, and dress power and control cables according to project specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, one‑line diagrams, electrical schematics, and construction drawings.
• Install structural steel and support equipment using proper rigging and lifting techniques.
• Assist with equipment setting, alignment, and mechanical assembly.
• Support testing, commissioning, punch list completion, and project closeout activities.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following OSHA and customer safety requirements.
• Complete daily work reports and communicate project progress with site leadership.

Required Experience/Skills

• Journeyman‑level experience in electrical, utility, or substation construction.
• Minimum of 3 years of substation construction experience preferred.
• Experience working on substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and utility construction standards.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel 100% to project locations throughout the United States.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as required by project demands.

Nice-to-Haves

• Prior experience working traveling contract roles in the utility/EPC industry.
• Familiarity with commissioning and testing procedures on high‑voltage equipment.
