Job description

As a Traveling HVAC Controls - Field Service Technician at Honeywell, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and service to customers in the HVAC industry. Your role involves ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC control systems. Your expertise and dedication will contribute to the efficiency, comfort, and safety of our customers' buildings (commercial sites).

You will report to the Field Service Supervisor and travel up to 70% to customer sites in Minnesota and beyond. During the first 90-180 days, travel to other areas for training may be required. A vehicle and travel and expense card will be provided for business use.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Commission, start-up, and tune control systems to meet customer specifications.
• Install, configure, and test pre-engineered software for control systems or troubleshoot software and hardware, checkout control systems, and perform start-ups and commissioning.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions tailored to customer needs.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Report incidents, near misses, and improvement opportunities via the SOS system.
• Perform open systems and third-party integrations, collaborating with vendors of different protocols.
• Adhere to configuration management policies, including backing up changes and archiving hardware/software.
• Demonstrate systems and conduct customer training.
• Support sales activities by presenting solutions and retrofit opportunities.
• Travel up to 70% within assigned territories.

MUST HAVE

• 2+ years of experience in building controls and automation, including troubleshooting and repair of emergency management systems, programming, PC usage, and networking principles.
• Working knowledge of BACnet control systems.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

WE VALUE

• Experience with Tridium Niagara 4 or Niagara AX (or willingness to get certified).
• Knowledge of Honeywell ComfortPoint Open or compatible control software.
• 2+ years in commercial HVAC controls field service, with a solid track record.
• Vocational or trade certifications or associate degrees.
• Strong customer focus and relationship-building skills.
