Job summary

Sieda Community Action is seeking a Traveling Head Start Preschool Teacher Assistant for Wapello County. This full-time role (36 hrs/wk) involves planning learning experiences to advance children’s literacy, math, and social skills, while traveling within the Head Start service area and supporting families.

The position requires a HS diploma or GED, one year of preschool experience, and the ability to travel. CDA credential and required trainings are noted.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• One year work experience in Head Start or preschool setting preferred.
• Preschool CDA credential and ongoing CEUs required; annual training hours must be completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teacher in planning and implementing weekly lesson plans.
• Maintain confidential records on each child’s development and goals.
• Support educational and developmental needs across Head Start areas (nutrition, health, education, family services).
• Ensure a safe, healthy classroom environment and positive behavior supports.
• Assist with parent communication, conferences, and home visits as requested.
