Job summary

Community Action of Eastern Iowa in Davenport, IA seeks a Family Support Specialist for Head Start programs. Travel across counties to partner sites to ensure delivery of comprehensive services, connect families with health, social, and community resources, and support child development.

You will build strong relationships with families, assist them in setting and achieving goals, and collaborate with staff to promote school readiness and family well‑being.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience working with families in social work, human services, or a similar setting.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Family Development Certification within one year of hire.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support partnership sites to ensure delivery of comprehensive Head Start services.
• Help families access essential health, social, and community resources.
• Build strong relationships with families and engage them in goal setting and progress.
• Support children’s development and readiness for school.
• Travel to centers across the program’s service area (Scott, Clinton, Cedar, Muscatine).
