Job summary

New Mexico Department of Transportation seeks a traveling mechanic to perform diagnostics, maintenance and mechanical/electrical repairs on a range of equipment, including diesel and gasoline engines. The role requires one year of hands-on repair shop experience and a Class A CDL within one year of hire.

The position involves preparing purchase requisitions, estimating labor and parts, and supporting work orders in the Fleet Management system as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience in a repair shop or maintenance facility.
• Educational experience in automotive service repair may substitute for required experience.
• Must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver's License, Class A within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair light and heavy duty automotive equipment.
• Prepare labor and parts estimates and assist in processing work orders in the Fleet Management system.
• Travel as a mechanic to support NM Department of Transportation operations.
