Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking an inspector of fire and life safety systems to assess compliance with local and international building codes across Commercial, Industrial, Residential and Hospitality settings.

The role involves travel to client sites, interpreting complex codes, and coordinating with building owners. Candidates should hold relevant degrees or certifications and demonstrate strong communication and computer skills. This is a home-based position with travel requirements near airports.

Qualifications

• University Degree (Equivalent to Associates) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Fire Safety Engineering preferred.
• Related discipline plus generally five years’ experience as an inspector, building contractor, engineer or other building related trades.
• ICC Combo commercial Inspector certification.
• Certified Electrical Plans Examiner.
• Knowledge to interpret building codes and ability to identify non-compliant installations as essential.
• Good verbal communication skills with customers.
• Must have excellent computer skills.
• Home Based Position – Candidate preferred to be located close to airport due to travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings for fire and life safety and fire protection systems to determine code compliance.
• Read and interpret building codes, technical manuals, drawings, instructions, and specifications.
• Travel and meet with building owners and managers; communicate about codes and inspection procedures; respond to questions and requests.
• Follow up to verify corrections of violations and ensure compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards; review changes and attend trainings.
• Read and follow UL Code of Conduct and security practices.
• Perform other duties as directed.
