Job description

Field Service Representative – Power Distribution

The Field Service Representative – Power Distribution is accountable for installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, adjustment, repair, and replacement of customer equipment. The role includes providing documentation such as test reports and service summaries, instructing customers and personnel on equipment operation and maintenance, performing warranty work and start-up service, and constructing and testing circuits and equipment using various tools and instruments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the coordination and execution of small Field Services projects on customer sites (e.g., end-of-life, modernization, upgrades).
  • Supporting Level 2 and Level 3 FSRs with removal of electrical equipment.
  • Interpreting blueprints, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Performing basic audits of customers’ electrical systems and equipment.
  • Documenting all required information for each site in a technical report.
  • Communicating with the Project Coordinator to ensure smooth execution.
  • Labeling and returning all defective parts to the designated disposal/repair location.
  • Providing documentation, including test reports and service summaries, to customers.
  • Instructing customers and personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Performing warranty work and start-up service.
  • Constructing and testing circuits and equipment utilizing computers, workstations, circuit diagrams, and test instruments.
  • Assisting in the development of design modifications and providing installation support for those modifications.
  • Developing and implementing training courseware and providing training to customers and other service representatives.
  • Maintaining ongoing customer relationships regarding all aspects of equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Maintaining service equipment, tools, and documentation.
  • Providing technical support in product service, product training, and applications.
  • Analyzing complex problems in equipment and machinery and interpreting maintenance manuals.
  • Using knowledge of systems and electronics to isolate and correct faults.
  • Consulting with product support and engineering personnel to determine solutions for complex system operation problems.
  • Reporting customer suggestions on product improvement and existing product designs to the appropriate technical specialist.

Travel: 50%

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00AM – 6:00PM (may vary based on customer demands and may include nights, weekends, and holidays).

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Completion of an electrical apprenticeship (8,000 hours) or a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Military experience as Navy Nuclear Electronic Technician or Electrician’s Mate.
  • Technical Experience: Electrical start‑up and testing experience with circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, VFDs, PLCs, and capacitor banks.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and spoken.
  • Other: Willingness to travel 50% and work flexible hours as required.
