Job summary

Premier-Power-Maintenance is seeking a field service technician to support testing, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of electrical power equipment at customer facilities in the Toledo region. You will work alongside experienced technicians, performing mechanical and electrical work on equipment used in power transmission, distribution, and generation, with emphasis on hands-on troubleshooting.

We value strong problem-solving, reliability, and the ability to travel as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, military experience, or related training is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in electrical systems
  • Ability to learn technical testing and troubleshooting procedures
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules as project needs require

Responsibilities

  • Assist with testing, maintenance, commissioning, and repair of electrical equipment
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical documents
  • Help troubleshoot equipment issues and identify corrective actions
  • Record test data and assist with technical documentation and reporting
  • Follow all safety policies and site requirements
  • Travel to customer sites for field service assignments

Schedule

Monday through Friday, typically 7:30am to 4:30pm
Overtime, overnight travel, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed

This is a hands-on role supporting the testing, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of electrical power equipment at customer facilities. You will work alongside experienced technicians performing mechanical and electrical work on equipment used in power transmission, distribution, and generation. What you will do
Field service operations
  • Assist with testing, maintenance, commissioning, and repair of electrical equipment
  • Support mechanical and electrical work on power transmission and distribution systems
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical documents
  • Help troubleshoot equipment issues and identify corrective actions
  • Participate in equipment installation, maintenance, and repair projects
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and service vehicles in clean and organized condition
Electrical testing support
  • Assist with transformer testing, including insulation resistance, winding resistance, power factor, and related testing
  • Assist with cable testing and diagnostic procedures
  • Support circuit breaker testing and maintenance activities
  • Record test data and assist with technical documentation and reporting
  • Learn industry testing procedures and best practices through hands‑on training
Safety and compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies and customer site requirements
  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs
  • Work safely around electrical substations and energized equipment
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, DOT, and other applicable standards
  • Support emergency response and on‑call service activities when assigned

What we are looking for
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, military experience, or related training is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in electrical systems
  • Ability to learn technical testing and troubleshooting procedures
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and data entry
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules as project needs require
  • Doble DTAF and PowerDB experience is a plus, but training will be provided
  • Entry‑level candidates are encouraged to apply
Work environment
  • Work is performed primarily at customer facilities and electrical substations
  • Frequent travel, including overnight and multi‑day projects
  • Overtime, weekend work, and emergency response assignments may be required
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
  • Must live within commuting distance of the assigned regional office or be willing to relocate
Physical requirements
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working in industrial environments
  • Ability to safely perform work around electrical equipment and in field conditions
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours when project schedules require
Additional requirements
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must pass pre‑employment background screening and motor vehicle check
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing and participate in required random testing
  • Ability to obtain company‑sponsored certifications and training, including TWIC, OSHA 10/30, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR
