Job summary

North Houston Pole Line, a Quanta Services, Inc. subsidiary, seeks an experienced Traveling Mechanic to service and repair company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment at projects across the footprint.

You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and keep equipment operating safely in field environments. The role requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical knowledge; willingness to travel extensively; a valid driver's license; and the ability to work outdoors on

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 3+ years of experience repairing heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, or similar fleet assets.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and drivetrain components.
• Ability to independently diagnose mechanical problems and determine repairs.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or required depending on equipment.
• Ability to travel extensively to project locations and respond to field repair needs.
• Welding/fabrication experience and knowledge of DOT inspection requirements preferred.
• Ability to lift up to ~60 pounds and work outdoors on uneven terrain around large equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and specialized utility construction equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and safety checks to reduce equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, brake, engine, and drivetrain systems.
• Travel to jobsites to perform scheduled maintenance and emergency field repairs.
• Inspect equipment for damage, excessive wear, or additional repairs needed and communicate findings.
• Complete required service records, work orders, and DOT-related repair documentation.
• Perform minor welding, fabrication, and component replacement as needed.
• Follow NHPL, DOT, OSHA, and manufacturer safety requirements while servicing and operating equipment.
