Job summary

North Houston Pole Line is seeking an experienced Traveling Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment at project locations across our footprint. The position travels to field sites to diagnose issues and perform preventative maintenance to keep crews productive and equipment operating safely.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience repairing heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, or similar fleet assets.
• Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and drivetrain components.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or required based on assigned equipment.
• Welding/fabrication experience and DOT inspection knowledge preferred.
• Ability to travel extensively to project locations and lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and utility construction equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and safety checks to reduce equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, brake, engine, and drivetrain systems.
• Travel to jobsites to perform scheduled maintenance and emergency field repairs.
• Inspect equipment for damage, excessive wear, or additional repairs needed and communicate findings.
• Complete required service records, work orders, and DOT-related repair documentation.
• Perform minor welding, fabrication, and component replacement as needed.
