Job summary

Cable Services Company, Inc. is seeking a Fiber Splicer to join our traveling crew. The position covers the Northeast with frequent overnight travel and weekend on-call duties.

You will splice fiber in air, underground, indoors and outdoors, reading maps and schematics and operating splicing equipment. Expect extended away-from-home assignments with overtime to meet project deadlines. Must have at least 2 years of fiber splicing experience, a HS diploma or GED, and be able to pass background

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience splicing all types of fiber optic cables
• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience using fusion splicers, OTDR, optical power meters, and related tools
• Must distinguish colors and read fiber schematics/designs

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic system
• Prep and hang fiber optic enclosures, nodes and equipment
• Route, splice, and terminate fiber in central offices, hubs or buildings
• Perform fusion splicing as directed with OSP Project Manager
• Read maps and schematics and operate related equipment
• Be on-call for emergency restoration and communicate workload status
