Job summary

Ledcor is hiring skilled excavator operators to support telecom construction across Arizona, South Dakota and surrounding states. The role involves operating mini excavators and skid steers, reading drawings, and working around utilities.

Crews rotate to new project locations about every four weeks, with LOA provided and a comprehensive benefits package. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years' experience in civil construction or utility work, valid driver’s license, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience operating mini excavators and skid steers on utilities or roadworks.
• Experience with fiber optic or underground utility installation is a plus.
• Ability to read drawings and assess trench routes before digging.
• Knowledge of backfilling, soil, moisture, and compaction.

Responsibilities

• Operate mini excavator and skid steers safely for earthwork and civil tasks.
• Excavate around existing utilities following locate procedures.
• Place soil/aggregate in lifts for proper compaction.
• Assess soil moisture and compaction responses.
• Support conduit placement and cable installation to keep production moving.
• Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance.
• Communicate with crew to meet daily goals.
