Job summary

The Traveling Event Equipment Technician is a full-time member of SMI Properties, a subsidiary of Speedway Motorsports, LLC, supporting golf cart rentals for major NASCAR races and other large venues across the US. This role reports to the Event Operations Manager and emphasizes reliable, hands-on equipment care.

You will travel 150+ days per year to events outside Harrisburg, NC, perform preventative maintenance on carts, generators and related gear, load and unload equipment, and assist with

Qualifications

• 21+ years of age and ability to obtain medical card, as required for driving company vehicles.
• Mechanical aptitude, small engine knowledge strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding and use of technology to complete tasks (email, Excel, tablet and laptop).
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Proactive and able to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to continually learn and adapt to new challenges.
• Able to interact professionally with customers and employees at every level.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair on equipment at events and the service center.
• Safely operate equipment such as golf carts, generators, and tow trailers up to 10,000 lb.
• Load, secure, and unload golf carts on trailers; assist with event prep and execution.
• Travel frequently for events and interact with customers during events.
• Maintain safety standards and contribute to efficient event operations.
