Key responsibilities:
- Operate trenching or digging equipment safely and efficiently on various jobsites, including plow, backhoe/excavator, rock saw, dozer/lead tractor, and tractor trailer.
- Install and maintain underground fiber optic and telecommunications cabling.
- Restore and landscape disturbed areas of the site.
- Dig pits, trenches, and potholes as directed, crossing utilities by hand or mechanical tools.
- Set up and clean up the job site, including load/unload tools and materials.
- Establish safety perimeters with signage, cones, and barriers, possibly directing traffic.
Qualifications:
- Ability to follow instructions and use small tools.
- Valid CDL with a good driving record.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Safety-conscious attitude.
- Ability to work overtime and travel extensively.
Preferred skills and physical requirements:
- Previous construction or utility experience.
- Ability to interpret utility maps and read prints.
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and wear safety gear.
