Job summary

American Elevator Group (AEG) seeks an experienced elevator mechanic for new installations, modernization, and on-site service across the United States. You will read blueprints, test safety features, adjust motors, and ensure code compliance.

Requires 4+ years as a maintenance elevator mechanic, valid driver’s license, and state licenses (MD or WV) or eligibility, CET/NEIEP preferred. Travel with weekly overnight stays is required. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits provided.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a maintenance elevator mechanic with ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and related documents.
• Experience conducting on-site installation of equipment following safety, maintenance and testing procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical malfunctions.

Responsibilities

• Performs elevator new installation and modernization work. Tests and adjusts safety features of elevators.
• Installs/replaces control panels, relays, signal devices, motors and related equipment.
• Inspects and repairs hoist motors, governors, doors, cables, pumps, brakes and rails.
• Reads blueprints to determine layout and equipment needs.
• Assembles elevator cars including platform, walls and doors.
• Connects wiring to control panels and motors.
• Tests equipment to meet elevator code requirements.
• Troubleshoots malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches and controls.
• Dismantles components to replace defective parts using hoists and hand/power tools.
• Repairs to return elevators to full operation.
• Willingness to travel with weekly overnight stays (minimum 2 nights).
