Job summary

Amteck is seeking a Journeyman Electrician 1 who works under a Foreman or Superintendent and may oversee a small crew of Helpers, Apprentices, or other J1’s. The role involves installation, alteration and repair of electrical systems, and opportunities to learn in other divisions of Amteck.

Qualified candidates will have 5-7 years of electrical construction experience in commercial/industrial environments, own required tools, and be willing to work weekends and overtime.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of electrical construction experience in commercial/industrial environments.
• Owns tools required by company policy and able to use them.
• Willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.
• Able to read project specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
• Demonstrates a team-player mindset and safety-conscious work style.
• Willing to participate in field training (OJT, classroom-based, or virtual).

Responsibilities

• Work independently to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
• Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panel boards, branch circuit and feeder conductors.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of circuiting.
• Read and understand project specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
• Lay out small areas of work from electrical drawings and project documents, including underground layout.
• Correctly determine wire, conduit, and junction box sizing.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of lighting and general power circuits.
• Lead and mentor Helpers and Apprentices on the job site.
