Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a drilling equipment operator to safely manage drilling operations in preparation for blasting and core sampling. The role requires understanding drilling techniques, ground conditions, and strict safety protocols.

You will maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and document activities under supervision and with geologists and engineers. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, perform routine inspections, and ensure accurate drill logs.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED preferred.
• 3+ years drilling experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record is required.
• CDL preferred or ability to obtain one is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate the portable rotary drill.
• Adjust drilling techniques based on soil/rock conditions.
• Assist with drilling pattern layout and core sampling.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of drill components.
• Maintain and document drill logs, reports, and other operational data.
• Coordinate drilling activities with geologists, engineers, and plant management.
• Follow safety protocols and promptly report any issues.
