Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a driller to safely operate portable rotary drilling equipment for blasting prep and core sampling. You will maintain and troubleshoot gear, document drilling activities, and work with geologists and engineers to meet project goals.

This role requires adherence to safety protocols, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt drilling techniques to varying ground conditions. Overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED preferred.
• 3 years experience as a driller in construction, mining, or environmental projects is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the portable rotary drill.
• Adjust drilling techniques based on soil or rock conditions encountered during drilling.
• Assist with the drilling pattern layout.
• Collect and describe stone, sand, and gravel samples.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections and maintenance of drill bits, drill steel, lubricant systems, and fluid levels.
• Perform minor services, repairs, and adjustments to improve drill performance.
• Enter and maintain information regarding drill logs and drilling reports.
• Coordinate drilling activities with geologists, engineers, plant management and other team members.
