Terracon is embarking on an exciting new program to develop and grow our Exploration Team Members. We have partnered to offer a DOL-approved apprenticeship program as a Construction Craft Laborer. In this role, you will be on sites, working and observing under an approved and trained mentor – or journeyworker. We will provide a documented training program to ensure you learn all aspects of the role and set you up to grow in your career as an experienced Exploration Team Member (ETM), potentially leading your own crew in time.
This is a traveling position. You will be assigned to a home location, where your initial training will begin. After training, you will be active in work at your home office and deployed as needed across the US, providing opportunities to learn new skills, meet other ETMs, and participate in diverse projects.
All this while being an employee-owner at Terracon, where safety is a top priority and we value each person we interact with – employees, clients, and communities.
This is an entry-level position. No experience is required.
As you progress towards becoming an ETM, your duties will include subsurface exploration using drilling or in-situ testing techniques, such as auger, mud rotary, air rotary, and diamond core drilling, as well as cone penetration testing, pressure meter testing, and rock dilatometer testing. You may also install instrumentation like piezometers, monitor wells, and inclinometers. The role may involve installing steel test piles for solar projects. You will work as part of a team, performing tasks like surveying, site reconnaissance, tooling and material handling, soil and rock sampling, equipment maintenance, and paperwork.
This role requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions, lifting at least 50 pounds, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, handling tools, reaching, climbing, balancing, and communicating. Work involves moving machinery in noisy environments and travel, including out-of-town assignments. Employees are subject to DOT drug testing and medical monitoring.
The salary range for this position is $21.00 to $29.25 per hour, adjusted based on location, qualifications, and experience.
